Office Policies

  • Receptionists are not qualified to offer medical advice.

  • Only basic advice will be offered over the telephone.

  • The physician does not routinely offer individual assessments over the phone, but will be available to assist staff when necessary.

  • Requests for consultations will be assessed and assigned an appropriate priority and duration.

  • The physician reviews all test results. Patients will be called if laboratory or diagnostic tests are abnormal.

  • Telephone requests not directly related to an insured service and/or treatment may be considered uninsured and be billed directly to the patient.

  • Please bear in mind that our staff is often attending other patients in person or over the telephone. We appreciate your courteous patience.

Prescription Renewals

  • To make sure that you never run out of your regular prescription medicine, please let us know during your office visits if you have no more repeats on your prescription order so we may renew it for you.

  • If you need a detailed review of your inventory of medications, then a follow-up visit will be booked.

  • We do not routinely renew prescription orders over the phone. Please bring all your medications to your regular consultations.

  • We follow evidence-based guidelines for all prescriptions, including antibiotics, narcotics, and mental health treatments.

General Guidelines

  • Medical tests and investigations are ordered as guided by current evidence-based practices.

  • We require that our physicians take note of all pertinent history, examinations, and medical tests and investigations before we can proceed with any referrals in order for you to have the most effective and timely consultation with your specialist.

  • Please note that Dr. Hubbes teaches at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. There will be students at various stages of training at the clinic at different times. Each learner will clearly identify themselves and their level of training when they introduce themselves. You have the right, at any time, to decline seeing a trainee. However, please consider that these are our caregivers of the future and this is your opportunity to help assist in their education.

  • We ask that you use Dynacare laboratories for your bloodwork as the results will be transmitted to us electronically, saving paper and decreasing wait time for your reports.
